Safety & Rules

Community Guidelines

CoStudy is a place for students to study together in a safe, encouraging, and focused environment. We have strict rules and safety systems to protect our members.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

CoStudy has no tolerance for objectionable content, harassment, abusive behavior, bullying, hate, sexual content, threats, spam, or inappropriate profile/study-session content.

Child Safety Standards (CSAE & CSAM)

These are the published child safety standards for the CoStudy app on Google Play and the App Store. CoStudy prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.

  • Prohibited conduct: grooming, sexual exploitation or endangerment of a minor, sextortion, trafficking of a child for sex, solicitation of sexual content involving a minor, and any other CSAE.
  • Prohibited content: CSAM of any kind, including photos, videos, drawings, AI-generated imagery, text, links, or other depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
  • Immediate action: When CoStudy obtains actual knowledge of CSAE or CSAM, we remove the content, restrict or terminate the responsible account(s), preserve relevant records as required by law, and report to the appropriate authorities or designated reporting organizations where legally required.
  • Legal compliance: CoStudy complies with applicable child safety laws, including obligations related to CSAM reporting and child online safety where they apply to the app and its operator.
  • Cooperation: We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and child-protection organizations related to CSAE/CSAM investigations.

Child safety / CSAM point of contact: Steph Henning — stephdevelopment@gmail.com. This contact is available to address child safety concerns, CSAM reports, and compliance questions about CoStudy.

Age-Appropriate Access

CoStudy asks for an age during onboarding, but does not request a date of birth or store the exact age in the profile. It uses the result only to decide whether social features can be used.

  • Users under 13 can view the Live globe and list, but cannot open other users’ profiles, send reactions, use search or friend features, join group sessions, receive invitations, or share social content.
  • Age eligibility is server-controlled and cannot be changed through profile editing.

In-App Feedback & Reporting

Users can report concerns, block other users, and send feedback directly from within the CoStudy app without leaving the app. You can also email stephdevelopment@gmail.com.

  • Blocking: Removes that user from the blocker’s feed immediately and creates a moderation report.
  • Reporting: Flag any user, profile content, study session, message, reaction, or other user-generated content that violates these guidelines, including suspected CSAE or CSAM.
  • Child safety reports: Reports involving minors or suspected CSAM are prioritized for review and handled under the Child Safety Standards above.

Moderation & Enforcement

Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours, sooner when child safety or CSAM is involved. Users who violate these rules may have content removed or their account suspended or permanently removed. Severe violations, including CSAE/CSAM, may result in immediate permanent bans and reporting to authorities as required by law.
